Rebooting - My Return To Sharing

Where I Went

After being away for awhile I think that I am ready to return to things. In truth I never stopped taking pictures, but after the daily grind and pressure of 2018's posting a photo a day I needed to step away and reboot. The 2018 Photo a Day challenge was amazing for me and transformed how I view and interact with my camera. Beyond this I learned a lot and grew in ways I never expected. In the end though it took a toll on me, and once I put my camera down for a break I couldn't bring myself back to the grind.

What I've Been Up To

As I mentioned though I never stopped taking photos and have found new drive and passion for photography through a new field of focus. During my time away I found a new passion for Wildlife Photography. Though not new, for me Wildlife Photography has traditionally been a passive field for me. Looking back some of my favorite photos taken during 2018 were ones I spent hanging out with a Sea Gull or watching a Field Mouse waiting for the perfect shot. With Wildlife Photography there is an element of challenge in the patience it takes to get the perfect shot. Unlike with landscapes the shot is not waiting for you, you have to wait for the shot. Waiting for the animal to act in a photographic way then having a split second to capture it. Beyond the photo though, watching these animals allows me to connect with and get to know their quirks and characteristics. As I have transitioned to Wildlife Photography my gear has changed also. Since we last interacted I have armed myself with Canon's 100-400m mk2, and a 1.4x teleconverter. Armed with this new glass I have been on the hunt for wildlife to shoot. You can view a complete listing of equipment over on my Gear page.

Beyond this shift to Wildlife Photography I also have started experimenting more with the other half of my camera and capturing Wildlife Videos. I have no idea where this will lead but felt that it paired well with my shift to wildlife subjects.

Where I Want To Go

As I never stopped taking photos while gone I have collected a bit of a glut of backlogged photos! While I have a lot of photos to share with you, I also have plans to use this site more. My plans for this site include the occasional Blog Posts about Photography and tales of my adventures. So keep an eye out here and on my Instagram for new content!
