Back On The Water
Beautiful blue skies welcomed us back on to the water for the first Anacortes trip of the 2021 season. We spotted some harbor seals right away as we were heading out a good omen for the season. We headed into Rosario Strait where we spotted some harbor porpoise. With our adventure off to a good start we got reports of a grey whale near Oak Harbor and we set out to find it passing through Deception Pass and under the bridge. On our way to Oak Harbor we spotted a grey whale who was identified to be #56 who we paralleled for awhile, after it went on a few deeper dives we broke off and continued to Oak Harbor. When we arrived we quickly found the grey we had been chasing #44 Dubknuck named for the scarring on its back. After awhile with Dubknuck we headed back in the direction of home encountering some more Harbor Porpoise at one point and spotting a handful of birds on our way back.
